Early Planning for an Outting

My friends birthday is tomorrow. She invited me to her birthday dinner, which is going to be at Olive Garden. I decided I would be smart and look at their menu online. I figure it would be a lot better to plan out my meal now, instead of getting there hungry, smelling all their delicious food and going crazy. I already decided I can't go there without having bread sticks, so I plan on cutting myself off at about 2 bread sticks. But, I'd like to only have one, and who knows...maybe I'll be strong enough to not have any. Lol!

I think I decided on the "Venetian Apricot Chicken" which is only 380 calories for the dinner portion, 4g total fat, 1,5g Saturated fat, 1420g Sodium (much less than most of their other meals but still A LOT) 32g of carbs and 8 grams of fiber. I'll either get that, or the "Herb-Grilled Salmon" which has 510 calories, 26g total fat, 6g saturated fat, only 760g sodium and only 5 carbs... What do you guys think?? I think the salmon might be better with the lower carbs and sodium, but I don't know. I haven't had fish in a while either, so I might just do it.

Any opinions?

I'm doing pretty good on my diet and exercise. I'm taking time to eat my food and chew it up well. I haven't gone back for seconds in a long time. I try to get a reasonable amount of food without getting too much, and without needing to go back for more.

My goal this month is to get in a 20 minute work out, once a day for 5 days, but for the last 2 days (and I'm sure today) i've done a 20 minute work out plus another type of exercise. I feel good. I don't feel like I am OVER pushing myself. I really enjoy Zumba... and now that I've checked out the Leslie Sansone Walking videos, I'm a fan so far of it too. It's 20-25 minutes for 2 miles, so if I can do that and Zumba every day then I'm doing pretty awesome. Next time, if the kids are asleep or not up my butt, I think I will push for 3 miles. :)

Oh...and another .8 pound loss will put me at an official 30 pound total loss, I'm so excited!

How is everyone else doing?

  1. Hmmm...That IS a difficult decision. I guess it all depends on what else you eat. Since you're having MAX of two breadsticks...I'd suggest you go with the chicken since it's lower in cals. But...if you just skip the breadsticks (150 cals EACH...not to mention the high sodium and carbs on those guys, too)...maybe the fish would be best (omega-3s and such). How about salad and cake? Have you figured them into the dinner, too?

I'm really happy you're planning. It's SO much better to see the numbers and to think, "I have to do HOW MUCH exercise to burn those off?!" You're ahead of the game! I love it!

  2. Totally, you're on the right path. You've made TWO great choices for O.G. Honestly...I say go with whichever one appeals to you when you sit down to eat. And enjoy EVERY, SINGLE bite. ;)

  3. I'd do the salmon, but that's because I'm not an apricot fan. But the chicken with breadsticks makes more sense to bme.

  4. I say the chicken because it has less calories and less fat. Check the protein in then both too when the fiber and the protein are at a high amount then the crabs actually are not as bad. It's a weight watchers thing lol I used to get discouraged when I looked at crabs until I had a meal that had 40 something crabs 12 protein and 6 fiber which made the meal less points and a healthier choice then what I was going to originally get which had almost 20 crabs less.
